An NBI Clearance serves as an official form issued by the National Bureau of Investigation. It is proof that you have a clean criminal record via a thorough background check done by the NBI. To this day, people use the document for its multipurpose uses in various aspects of life, such as:
Home Credit accepts the NBI clearance as one of the secondary IDs as a part of our product loan or cash loan requirements.

The NBI Clearance application process varies depending on your purpose for getting it. Here are different steps for new applicants, renewal seekers, and first-time job seekers.
Step 1: Create an NBI Account Online and Login
Visit the NBI Clearance Online Services portal to create your own account. You will need this account to login.
Step 2: Fill Out NBI Online Registration Form
This is what the registration form looks like!
Make sure to read and accept the Terms of Services. Click on the Agree button to proceed.
A screen will prompt you to enter a one-time password or OTP, sent to your registered mobile phone number.
Once you have logged in, you can now apply for a clearance. Simply click on the top button as shown below:
Clicking this will cause a pop-up that will ask you for the valid ID that you will use.
Step 3: Choose your NBI Clearance Appointment Date
Choose an appointment date for the physical processing of your NBI Clearance. The NBI follows an appointment schedule to ensure an organized flow of applicants. NBI branches will not accommodate any applicant with no appointment.
On the NBI website, you will see a calendar that prompts you to choose your NBI Branch and appointment date. Simply select one NBI branch from the list and click on your preferred weekday on the calendar.
Applicants with no internet access can go to the NBI main office in Manila City or their local NBI office to ask for assistance in registering for an NBI Clearance appointment.
Step 4: Decide on a Payment Option
Explore various payment options, including the convenience of Bayad Center, 7-Eleven, GCash, or card payments.
Step 5: Pay the NBI Clearance Fee
Make sure to complete the payment process before proceeding further.
Step 6: Go to the NBI Branch on Your Appointment Date
Double check your appointment date and make sure to arrive early at the NBI branch you selected! Expect to wait anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. We also recommend dressing presentably as they will be taking your photo. Wear at least smart casual attire.
Step 7: Wait for Your NBI Clearance
Allow some time for the office for processing of the NBI Clearance before claiming the final document. Your application might run into a hit. A hit means that the NBI’s system has flagged your application for further verification.
Without a hit, you can get the NBI clearance at the end of your appointment. If you get a hit, you need to come back after 7-10 working days.
Something that makes the process easier for first-time job seekers is the exemption from NBI Clearance fees, courtesy of Republic Act No. 11261. To avail this privilege, first-time job seekers need to present their barangay clearance and register through the dedicated First Time Job Seekers NBI Portal.
